The MMQB’s Albert Breer and Rich Eisen discuss former USC Trojan quarterback Sam Darnold’s journey to the Minnesota Vikings as the starting signal-caller after the departure of Kirk Cousins. Darnold’s NFL world has changed after the season-ending injury to heir apparent JJ McCarthy in the NFL preseason.
Vikings Wire offered this interesting note in an article which offered a revised prediction for Minnesota’s season following the McCarthy injury:
The entire landscape of the season has changed, and it now is worth going back through the schedule and re-picking games. Our original prediction included McCarthy taking over after the Bye Week but now we have to predict things with Sam Darnold running the show for the whole year.
It’s up to Darnold, now that he knows he’s the man for the whole season, to prove he can be a legitimate QB1 in the NFL. All eyes are upon him, and there’s no one waiting to steal his job. He doesn’t need to look over his shoulder at a first-round pick waiting to take over for him — at least not this year.
