Saints-Raiders will be one of the least-watched games in Week 17

Saints-Raiders will be one of the least-watched games in Week 17. TV coverage is being confined to each team’s home market:

If you’re living outside the New Orleans Saints’ or Las Vegas Raiders’ home market, you could have a hard time catching Week 17’s game at the Caesars Superdome. Kickoff is set for Noon CT/ 1 p.m. ET.

Thanks to this broadcast map from 506 Sports, we can see that this week’s Saints game is being shown locally in just each team’s home market. Most of America will be watching the Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game in the FOX early window, while New York Giants fans and Indianapolis Colts faithful will see their teams at home, too.

Coverage for Saints-Raiders is being limited to southeastern Nevada, most of Louisiana (except for Shreveport) and the Gulf South into Mississippi, southwestern Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle. Some fans in Arkansas border towns will get the game, but not as many as usual.

It’s easy to see why this isn’t an attractive matchup. Neither the Saints nor the Raiders are eligible for the playoffs. Both squads are starting backup quarterbacks, and the potential for a Derek Carr revenge game isn’t there, either. This one just doesn’t have the juice that an NFC East rivalry game between two high-profile franchises does.
