Saddiq Bey powers Pistons to win behind hot shooting performance

Bey produced his third double-double of the season on Wednesday to lead the Pistons to a win over the Raptors.

Saddiq Bey scored a team-high 28 points and 12 points on Wednesday for his third career double-double to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 116-112 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

Bey finished by shooting 8-of-14 from the field, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range, in nearly 39 minutes of work. He now has three games this season with at least six 3-pointers, joining Allan Houston as the only other Pistons rookie to reach that mark.

On top of his hot shooting, the 19th overall pick also produced his second game of the season with at least 25 points, 10 rebounds and five 3-pointers. Bey became the only rookie in Pistons franchise history to reach those numbers twice, according to StatMuse.

Bey continued his strong performance from beyond the arc this season. He leads all rookies in total 3-pointers, while his 85 on the season are tied with Donovan Mitchell for fourth-most all-time through the first 38 games of a career.

The 21-year-old this season has emerged as one of the top rookies to this point and a case can be made that he is one of the biggest steals of the draft. The Pistons have built a really solid foundation, led by Bey and several other rookies, and appear to have a bright future ahead.
