S Deionte Thompson is latest Cardinals player to land on COVID list

He is the fourth Cardinals player to land on the list this season.

The Arizona Cardinals announced that safety Deionte Thompson has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. He is the fourth player to land on this list this season.

This reserve list category was created for a player with a positive test for COVID-19 or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons. If a player falls into either of these categories, his club is required to immediately place the player on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Early in the season, receiver KeeSean Johnson landed on the list. More recently, linebacker Devon Kennard and cornerback Byron Murphy both tested positive for the virus and landed on the list.

Thompson will likely miss this week’s game and, depending on whether he actually has the virus and has symptoms, he could miss the game next week.

With Jalen Thompson dealing with an ankle injury again, the Cardinals are again thin at safety. Budda Baker are the only two healthy players, as Charles Washington is recovering from a groin injury as well.
