On Thursday, Rutgers men’s basketball will continue their postseason run against the Michigan Wolverines. In the second round of the Big Ten tournament, Rutgers will seek revenge against a Michigan team that won the season series.
Rutgers will need their stars to be at their best if they want to beat Michigan.
In the first matchup of the season between these two teams, Rutgers was only able to score 45 points. Cam Spencer led the way with 11 points, and Clifford Omoruyi was the only other Rutgers player to score in double-digits. They will need to be a lot better on Thursday afternoon.
Additionally, the Scarlet Knights only made four three-pointers and turned the ball over 13 times. Michigan took advantage of their mistakes and outscored Rutgers by 10 points in the second half.

While Rutgers is favored heading into this game, they have struggled lately. The Scarlet Knights have posted a 2-6 record in their last eight games. In that span, they have scored less than 60 points four times and been without a key player in Mawot Mag.

For Rutgers, capitalizing on offense will be the key to getting back on track. They have talented pieces in Spencer, Omoruyi, and Caleb McConnell, who all at times this season have shown they can be difference makers. A big game from that trio and suffocating defense will make life difficult for Michigan.
The Wolverines will rely heavily on Hunter Dickerson, who is averaging 18.2 points and nine rebounds a game. Regardless of the outcome, this should be a close game between two talented teams.
