Rutgers Paul Mulcahy wins the NIL Athlete Advocate of the Year Award

Rutgers basketball Paul Mulcahy won the 2023 NIL Athlete Advocate of the Year Award during the NIL Summit in Atlanta, Georgia.

Over the weekend, Rutgers basketball Paul Mulcahy won the 2023 NIL Athlete Advocate of the Year Award. The Athlete Advocate of the Year Award recognizes the student-athlete who has best leveraged their Name, Image, and Likeness to impact their community, non-profit, and philanthropic. Mulcahy and five other student-athletes accepted this award during the NIL Summit in Atlanta, Georgia.

What is the NIL Summit? The NIL Summit is intended to celebrate student-athletes achievements, providing them with the tools, resources, and information necessary to maximize their future goals. Also, the NIL Summit is a multi-day conference where college sports’ most important stakeholders share cutting-edge ideas, discover new interests, and learn how to maximize opportunities to build their brands and amplify their voices.

Mulcahy was honored at the annual Chancellor-Provost’s Student Leadership Awards Gala with the 2023 Paul Robeson Renaissance Award and received 2022-23 Big Ten Honorable Mention honors, scoring double-figures 12 times this past season.

News broke on Thursday that Mulcahy will no longer be entering the NBA draft, providing hope that the Rutgers guard will opt into his one year left of eligibility.

With the New Jersey native in the Scarlet Knights lineup, Rutgers has a 73-52 record. Over his career, Mulcahy averaged 6.8 points and 3.8 assists in 121 games played. During his time with Rutgers, he totaled 818 points, 112 rebounds, 457 assists, and 81 starts.
