Rutgers football recruiting: Why did Rivals give a Long Island tight end a fourth star? ‘All spring, Korey Duff Jr. was dominant’

A Rivals analyst breaks down why Korey Duff Jr. got a fourth star recently.

Last week, Korey Duff Jr. got a much-deserved bump in his rankings, becoming a four-star tight end according to Rivals. A target of Rutgers football, Duff is a big target with good length and a tremendous wingspan.

Duff, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound wide receiver from St. Anthony’s (Melville, N.Y.), is coming off a season where he had 42 catches for 995 yards with 12 receiving touchdowns.

Duff has recently taken official visits to Rutgers and North Carolina as his recruitment looks to wind down in late June.

Richard Schnyderite is a busy man, running the Rivals sites for UConn, Penn State and Rutgers. He believes that Duff’s fourth star is certainly warranted as he builds a case to be one of the top recruits in the nation.

“All spring long, Korey Duff Jr. was dominant on the camp scene as he was flown down to Miami for OT7 where he showcased his skills in 7-on-7, looked great the at Under Armour Camp in North Jersey earlier this spring and most recently he won the top wide receiver/tight end award at the Rivals Camp Series in New Jersey,” Schnyderite told Rutgers Wire.

“Now what makes Duff so dominant? He’s the new age receiving type of tight end prospect who has great, great hands and moves very well for his size. Not to mention he’s a talented route runner as well.

“In order to be a full-fledged tight end at the next level he will need to add some weight, but he has such a good receiver skillset that some programs are hoping to keep him at wide receiver instead.”

This weekend, Duff is out in California for Raw Miami in the Overtime 7-on-7 tournament.
