Shaikh Thompson was offered by Rutgers football on Monday night as the Big Ten program enters the race for the South Carolina prospect.
An edge rusher at Hilton Head High School, Thompson is an impressive prospect. At 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds, the class of 2024 athlete has good length and size. He also has some impressive output.
Last season in nine games played, he had 45 total tackles with 15 tackles for a loss. He had 6.5 sacks.
For Thompson, it is his second Power Five offer as West Virginia had previously extended the talented defensive player. He also holds offers from programs such as Appalachian State, Georgia State, Liberty and Old Dominion.
He tweeted about the offer from Rutgers on Monda night:
After a great talk with @MattWalp @CoachMWatson @GregSchiano I am blessed to have received and Offer from Rutgers University @Americanfbcamp @kingsley_trevor @HHIHS_football pic.twitter.com/apMrJ0YupX
