Gus Edwards and the Baltimore Ravens are now one game away from the Super Bowl. Saturday’s win in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs is another big career moment for Edwards, a former Rutgers football running back.
In the win over the Houston Texans, Edwards ran for 40 yards on 10 carries. He spent one season at Rutgers (2017) where he won the starting job at running back and was named All-Big Ten (honorable mention) by the conference’s coaches.
He had 713 rushing yards and seven total touchdowns in his one season at Rutgers under then head coach Chris Ash. He has certainly carried that form into the NFL.
Edwards and his teammates will face the winner of Sunday’s divisional game between the Kansas City Chiefs at the Buffalo Bills. It might be an all Rutgers backfield next Sunday as the Chiefs’ leading rusher, Isiah Pacheco, a former All-Big Ten performer at Rutgers.
On the season, Edwards has 810 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns for the Ravens.

Early in the fourth quarter, Edwards was taken off the field and attended to on the sidelines for an injury. After the game, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said of the injury that “Gus is OK.”
Edwards went undrafted in the 2018 NFL draft.
