Rutgers football has been looking to add a cornerback to a recruiting class that is already one of the best in the Big Ten. They got one on Monday morning in Thomas Amankwaa.
The Hillsborough defensive back received an offer from head coach Greg Schiano on Saturday before the Scarlet Knights beat Delaware 45-13. He committed just two days later via a post on social media.
The senior cornerback measures in at 6-foot and 195 pounds. He held offers from Pittsburgh and Syracuse as well as Kent State, UMass, Old Dominion and Western Michigan among others.
He is fast and boasts a good wingspan. Amankwaa also plays as a wide receiver for Hillsborough.

Amankwaa is the first cornerback to commit to the Scarlet Knights this year. Rutgers has a 2022 class ranked No. 31 in the nation according to Rivals.com and boasts 15 committed players. With an average star ranking of 3.4, the class is No. 19 in the nation. Seven players in the class are from New Jersey.
The class now has two defensive backs with safety Davison Igbinosun committing to the program in July.
