Rutgers football: 1 $ slice day set for Sept. 30

Pizza is coming to Rutgers football for the home game against Wagner.

For Rutgers fans who love pizza, September. 30 is a day to mark on the calendar. On that Sunday, Rutgers will welcome Wagner to Piscataway, and Slices of pizza will be $1 at concession stands inside the stadium through the end of the first quarter. The party does not stop there, as ‘The Rutgers Boardwalk’ will host its first-ever PizaaFest.

The $ 1 slice day is the fifth announced theme of the 2023 campaign. The other themes include the Back to the Birthplace Game (Sept. 3), Blackout (Sept. 9), Scarlet Out/R Community Day (Sept. 16), and Homecoming & Family Weekend (Oct. 14). There are still two more promotions to be released.

For fans who attend the game, there will be giveaways throughout the afternoon. Along the Rutgers Boardwalk will be giving out “Beat Wagner” buttons and posters. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the pregame parade and pep rally featuring the Marching Scarlet Knights, Spirit Team, Sir Henry, the Scarlet Knight horse “Excalibur” with the Knight, and the football team’s arrival.

Local students from across the area will also attend through the Ru Reading program. Students who complete the program will receive a ticket to the game plus a personal pan pizza.

As opening week inches closer, this theme is another example of Rutgers making an effort to grow its fan base. The only two games left without a theme are Saturday, November 4th, when Ohio State makes a trip to Piscataway, and November 25th, against Maryland.
