Rutgers basketball: Daveyon Lydner get his first Division I offer from the Scarlet Knights

Daveyon Lydner is offered by Rutgers men’s basketball.

Daveyon Lydner was offered by Rutgers men’s basketball this week, becoming the first offer for the talented underclassman from Pennsylvania.

A 6-foot-3 guard, Lydner is likely to see his recruitment explode in the upcoming months. As a sophomore, Lydner averaged 17.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for William Penn (York, PA).

Lydner is an explosive athlete who is strong getting to the basket, confident on the dribble and has some impressive range to his game. He fits the mold of a modern Big Ten guard.

He posted about the offer, his first from a Division I program, on Tuesday afternoon:

Given his scoring ability and explosive traits, Lydner has the potential to be a high-profile recruit with multiple offers.

As for the class of 2024, that is coming along in impressive fashion for Rutgers as the program trends well with their current recruiting class.

Rutgers currently has the third-best class in the nation, highlighted by five-star verbal Airious Bailey and four-star talents Lathan Sommerville and Dellquan Warren.

With New Jersey standout guard Dylan Harper very much in play for Rutgers, there is the potential that the Scarlet Knights could finish with the top class in the nation. Harper is a five-star recruit currently at Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.).
