Russell Wilson out for Sunday vs. Jets

The Jets will not be seeing Russell Wilson this week. Instead, it’ll be Brett Rypien.

Jets fans were wondering all week if they were going to see Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson on Sunday after he injured his hamstring Monday against the Chargers. He tried to practice through it but was limited all week. He was hoping to play, but it turns the Broncos are going to play it safe with Wilson. He has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jets.

As a result, Brett Rypien will get the start against the Jets. Rypien has one career start in his career…and it was against the Jets.

Rypien led the Broncos to a 37-28 win in Week 2 of the 2020 season, going 19/31 for 242 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Head coach Robert Saleh told reporters this week he expected Wilson to be in the lineup this week, so this comes as a surprise to many. The Broncos did not want to push their main attraction and wanted the injury to properly heal.
