It doesn’t get better than seeing writers who trashed Michigan all season go in the other direction.

The national media said that Michigan football could not beat Ohio State. Now that it has, the media’s mea culpa has come in the form of lavish praise given the completeness of the Wolverines’ domination over the Buckeyes.

Not many thought that the maize and blue could win, let alone exorcize a decades’ worth of demons in the form of a thorough beatdown. Just a few short days ago, the media had OSU’s bags packed for Indianapolis and Dallas, and had the Buckeyes checked in and was considering upgrading them to first-class. Now, the scarlet and grey have been bumped, no rescheduling, no refunds.

The Wolverines are now that object of desire, Jim Harbaugh and his group having redeemed themselves in the national media’s eyes with just one perfect game. From Barrett Sallee to Stewart Mandel to David M. Hale, media personalities who love to get in digs at Michigan suddenly have amnesia about everything they said earlier in the year.

But, of course, that’s a wonderful, wonderful thing.

Here are some of the best excerpts from the national media’s wrap-up columns as it pertains to the Michigan Wolverines.
