No. 1 Wide Receiver
Shane Carter: Joshua Moore
Regardless of who wins the quarterback competition, they’ll often be looking No. 6’s direction. He’s athletic, quick, and creates separation from defenders that can make any quarterback feel confident throwing his way.
I mentioned in an earlier article that he could be on the Biletnikoff watch list and that speaks to not just how skilled he is, but how well he should fit in this offense that not only spreads the ball to different players but across the entire field as a whole.
Griffin McVeigh: Jake Smith/Jordan Whittington
This was one of the hardest decisions for me and I came up with whoever is playing the main slot corner position. Both Smith and Whittington are due for breakout seasons and could reap the benefits with Sarkisian running the show now. The former Alabama offensive coordinator proved during his time in Tuscaloosa that he will line up anybody anywhere. The slot receiver duo not only should become the safety net for the eventual starting quarterback but the big play, yards after catch galore receivers Sarkisian has produced.
Cami Griffin: Joshua Moore
After witnessing how Sarkisian used DeVonta Smith at Alabama, you’d have to assume that Joshua Moore will be that player for him in Austin. I’m not saying that they’re the same talent, but rather that Sarkisian will use them in similar roles. On top of that, Moore will likely have a more accurate passer than Ehlinger throwing to him this season. I strongly believe that he will undoubtedly begin the season as Texas’ top receiving threat. Troy Omeire is my dark horse threat.
