Ross Chastain refuses to speak after wreck with William Byron at Texas

Ross Chastain politely refused to speak with the media after his wreck with William Byron at Texas Motor Speedway.

[autotag]Ross Chastain[/autotag] had an opportunity to win the NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway; however, it quickly turned into a nightmare scenario. Chastain couldn’t stay on Elliott’s right rear quarter panel through Turn 3 and took the white flag in second place. Then, the Trackhouse Racing driver and William Byron made contact, which caused him to wreck for a 32nd-place finish.

According to The Athletic’s Jeff Gluck, it was a frustrating end for Chastain, who refused to speak after his release from the infield care center. Chastain has yet to win during the 2024 NASCAR season despite ending last year on a high note by winning the season finale. The race in Fort Worth, Texas, represented his best shot in 2024 to this point.

Now, the driver of the No. 1 car will look forward to Talladega Superspeedway as his next chance at a victory. Chastain won the spring race at Talladega in 2022 and has been successful in some superspeedway events. It remains to be seen if anything happens between him and Byron moving forward, but a win seems close for the No. 1 team.
