Rookie Matisse Thybulle finds competition with himself in quarantine

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Matisse Thybulle is in competition with boredom during this quarantine time.

The Philadelphia 76ers have not played basketball since March 11 against the Detroit Pistons. That’s the night the league officially announced their suspension due to the outbreak of coronavirus that has taken over the world a bit.

Rookie Matisse Thybulle has used his time in quarantine in a pretty interesting way. He has recently made a TikTok account to make use of his time at home. He has also kept in touch with teammates through social media such as Instagram and he sees this as a way to beat boredom.

He sat down with NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Serena Winters to discuss what quarantine life is like as he is in competition with himself every day to beat boredom.

Thybulle told Winters:

“For me, competition has always been largely an internal battle,” he explained. “Competing with myself, I find that a huge challenge and hugely rewarding if I can exceed expectations.

Some days, it’s hard to motivate yourself to do something productive,” he said. “I find it rewarding to actually not be a lazy bum and sit on the couch, and be productive. I find that’s like competition.”

We could all take a lesson from Thybulle during this time of quarantine and try to find something productive to do every day until we can get back to our regular lives. It will take a while, but life will eventually get back to normal. Let’s all use this time to be as productive as we can be. [lawrence-related id=29005,28994,28985]
