Ron Rivera says facing his former Carolina Panthers is ‘just another game’

Rivera knows he will face his former team in Week 16, but he isn’t treating it any differently than the other 15 games on the schedule.

Washington Redskins fans and NFL fans across the nation were glued to their computers on Thursday evening, as all 32 schedules for the 2020 NFL season were released to the public. While there are some big games on the docket for the Redskins, one matchup that everyone had their eyes on was vs. the Carolina Panthers.

This matchup is interesting for many reasons, mostly because Redskins coach Ron Rivera came over from Carolina after being fired a year ago, and he brought much of his coaching staff with him. Ironically, he was fired in Carolina after losing a late-season game to Washington.

For Rivera, it’s not so much a matter of revenge that he seeks, but just another game that they will be trying to win.

With 15 weeks to boil up to this game, we will have a good idea of where both teams stand as far as a playoff spot goes, and it could be that one team gets knocked out of the hunt from this game alone. What great theatre that would be.
