On Wednesday, the Houston Rockets announced that they assigned guard Josh Christopher to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, their G-League affiliate.

Christopher was selected with the 24th overall pick out of Arizona State University in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Rockets. In 11 games this season, Christopher has averaged 3.0 points and 1.0 assists per game. He showed a lot of potential this summer in the five games he participated in during the NBA Las Vegas Summer League where he averaged 16.8 points per game.

Rockets head coach Silas opted to keep Christopher on the roster to start the season, even though he has a plethora of guards in the rotation.

Unfortunately, there was never a right time to insert him into the lineup consistently throughout the first 17 games of the season that has seen the Rockets compile a record of 1-16.

The former Sun Devil will now join fellow rookie forward Usman Garuba, who was sent to the G-League by the Rockets earlier this month.
