Rockets forward Danuel House Jr. day-to-day with left ankle sprain

Danuel House Jr. missed Wednesday’s game after spraining his left ankle in practice and is day-to-day moving forward for the Rockets.

The wins are piling up for the Houston Rockets during their historic winning streak, but so are the injuries to rotation players. According to head coach Stephen Silas, veteran forward Danuel House Jr. sprained his left ankle during Tuesday’s practice and is day-to-day with the injury.

While a timetable for House’s return is not clear, he did not play in Wednesday’s home game versus Brooklyn. The 28-year-old is averaging 4.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in 14.6 minutes, and as an athletic 6-foot-6 forward, he’s also one of Houston’s most athletic and versatile defenders.

With House sidelined, that could open up more minutes for second-year forward KJ Martin and perhaps rookie guard Josh Christopher.

House joins starting point guard Kevin Porter Jr. (left thigh contusion), starting shooting guard Jalen Green (left hamstring strain), and rookie forward Usman Garuba (right thigh contusion) as players currently out due to injury. None had a clear return timetable, as of Wednesday.

Veteran guard John Wall also remains out, though that’s a result of a mutual agreement struck by the player and team over the offseason.
