We might have seen the last of stashed Boston Celtics floor general Yam Madar with MassLive’s Brian Robb reporting that the Israeli point guard will miss at least the Celtics’ Saturday friendly with the Philadelphia 76ers after coming down with a groin injury sustained in Thursday’s blowout win over the Orlando Magic.
Madar has struggled a bit since his electric debut in Boston’s first summer league win against the Atlanta Hawks, and the signing of veteran floor general Dennis Schroder did not bode well for his potential addition to the team in terms of both roster spots and available cap space.
Noting that Madar “was set for additional playing time this weekend in the wake of Pritchard’s departure” due to a prior engagement, Robb adds that “the injury timing is tough” for his efforts to force his way onto the roster with his play.

Given the double dose of bad luck coupled with Madar’s ongoing need for a buyout from his Israeli Premier Basketball League club Hapoel Tel Aviv, it may well be the Beit Dagan native’s fate to remain stashed one more season.
It seems probable that Madar will continue to work on his body and craft for a stronger foundation next season if that is the case, as we have seen nothing from the Israeli floor general to doubt his tendency towards constant improvement to date.
