Report: Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz tests positive for COVID-19

The Badger signal caller tests positive for COVID-19

Just two days after a sensational debut against Illinois, Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz has tested positive for COVID-19 per reports from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Mertz has tested positive in his initial daily test, and per Big Ten rules now will take a PCR swab test to determine if he indeed does have the virus. There is no information on whether this is a lone case or the first reports of an outbreak within Wisconsin football.

Per Big Ten protocol, if Mertz receives a positive PCR test, he will be forced to sit out for at least 21 days. If this ends up being the case, the Badger QB will be sidelined against Nebraska, Purdue, and Michigan. Next man up for Wisconsin at QB would be sophomore Chase Wolf if indeed Mertz misses the next three weeks.
