Report: Vikings running back Dalvin Cook looking for more like $13 million

The Athletic’s Chad Graff said Vikings RB Dalvin Cook isn’t asking for money on-par with Christian McCaffrey, but something more similar to David Johnson’s yearly average

Vikings running back Dalvin Cook has been in the news a lot lately.

Cook is holding out from any team-related activities until he receives a “reasonable” deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Then, ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reported that the ideal contract for Cook is north of what Christian McCaffrey is making at $16 million per year.

The Athletic’s Chad Graff said Cook isn’t asking for money on-par with McCaffrey, though. Graff reported that Cook is looking for money more like what David Johnson is getting, so about $13 million. Cronin wrote that sources say Cook would gladly take $13 million.

Cronin also reported that the Vikings’ initial offer was below $10 million per year, which was not considered “reasonable” by Cook and his representatives.

If Cook needs $13 million and the Vikings want to do that, then the team would have to make a move to shore up a little bit of space. Right now the team has just over $12.2 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap.
