Report: UW athletic director Barry Alvarez expected to retire

The Badger AD is reportedly stepping down

According to a report from Jeff Portykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, UW athletic director Barry Alvarez is expected to announce his retirement in the next few weeks.

Alvarez has been the UW athletic director since 2006, and served as Wisconsin’s head football coach from 1990-2005. The legend of Wisconsin football has more wins than any coach in program history and the longest tenure at the helm.

A three-time Big Ten champion, Alvarez would step down at the age of 74. There has yet to be any official confirmation from the university regarding his retirement.
