Report: Udoka could be suspended for entire ’22-23 season

Ime Udoka could be suspended for “entirety” of ’22-23 season following news of an intimate relationship with female staff member.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka could be suspended for “the entirety of the 2022-2023 season,” but that the team is still deliberating the scope and severity of a looming punishment. Udoka reportedly had an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female staffer, a violation of the team’s personal conduct policies.

Boston’s media day is set for Monday, September 26, with training camp tipping off the next day. Wojnarowski reported a decision could be made as soon as Thursday of this week.

It has been speculated that assistant coach Joe Mazzulla could become interim head coach should a suspension be levied against Udoka.  No decision has been made at this time.
