Report: Two more players, one more staffer test positive for COVID-19

According to Horns247, two more players and a GA have tested positive for COVID-19. Five people received a positive test on Sunday.

According to Chip Brown of Horns247, two more football players and a graduate assistant have tested positive for COVID-19. This is on the back of three players and two other staffers receiving a positive test on Sunday.

The Longhorns decided to pause all football operations after the 69-31 win over Kansas State. Texas released a statement saying they will continue through Tuesday.

“Out of an abundance of caution, and as Texas Football continues its COVID-19 testing procedures while closely following all of the medical team’s health and safety protocols, all team activities will remain paused on Tuesday.”

Texas is supposed to wrap up its regular season with a trip to Lawrence to face Kansas on Saturday. The Jayhawks, who are 0-9, had to cancel the original Nov. 14 date due to COVID-19 problems within their program.

The Big 12 released guidelines for the minimum amount of required players available before the season began. Each team must have at least seven offensive linemen, four interior defensive linemen, and one quarterback.

Dec. 19 could be another option to play the game if Texas needs another week for negative tests to show up. Neither school will be participating in the Big 12 championship.
