Report: Titans signing K Cade York to practice squad

The Titans are reportedly signing kicker Cade York to their practice squad.

After starting the week with no kicker on their roster, the Tennessee Titans have made two notable moves over the last 24 hours to bring in some immediate stability and long-term potential to the position.

On top of trading for Nick Folk to be the team’s Week 1 kicker, Tennessee chose to double down today by signing Cade York to the team’s practice squad, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

York was previously selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, where he had a very tumultuous tenure.

The LSU product started his career on a high note by nailing a 58-yard game-winning field goal in last year’s season opener, but as the season progressed, York’s consistency regressed.

He only made 75 percent of his kicks (24-of-32) on the year. York then followed it up with a very underwhelming preseason where he missed 50 percent of his kicks (4-of-8), including a game-winner a few weeks back just hours after he posted his own highlights on his Instagram during halftime.

Nevertheless, the talent is obvious with York, and he immediately gives the Titans a massive leg who can potentially make 50-plus-yard field goals with ease if he ever gets to a point where he cleans up his accuracy issues.

The second-year kicker now gets a clean slate in Tennessee, and if he performs well in practice over the coming weeks and months, you’d have to imagine he will eventually get his chance to snatch the job away from Folk.
