Report: Titans ‘fully investigating the possibility’ of signing Tom Brady

The Titans are doing their homework on Tom Brady.

The Tennessee Titans are going to weigh their options at the quarterback position this offseason, and one of those options will likely be Tom Brady.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer is reporting that the Titans are ‘fully investigating the possibility” of signing the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

However, he also notes that the team hasn’t exactly soured on bringing Ryan Tannehill back, either.

The Titans’ situation is a little more complicated—the idea of bringing Ryan Tannehill back in 2020 really does appeal to them, and they need to make a decision on tagging him before March 12—but they’re fully investigating the possibility to reuniting Brady with his buddy Mike Vrabel.

Before the Titans can even entertain the idea of bringing in Brady, he and the New England Patriots are eventually going to meet and try to work things out, so the opportunity may never arise.

The tricky part for the Titans comes with Tannehill, who is scheduled to hit free agency on March 18 and will have to be tagged by March 12 in order to prevent him from talking to other teams.

So, the Titans would be playing a dangerous game if they sit around waiting for Brady and let Tannehill hit the open market in the process.

Should March 12 come and go and no tag is placed on Tannehill, the Titans could end up walking away with neither player if Brady re-signs with the Pats and Tannehill leaves Nashville for another destination.

While landing “The GOAT” sounds like a great thing for the Titans to do, the actual process comes with a ton of risk that could leave Tennessee empty-handed in the end.
