The New Orleans Saints aren’t slated to pick until No. 28 overall in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft, but that could change if they get their way.
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that the Saints are trying to move all the way up into the top 10 Thursday night.
This would be an extremely costly move, and it’s hard to imagine it would be for anything other than a quarterback, should one of this year’s top passers fall far enough. That said, the Saints have proven in recent years that they’re willing to trade up in the first round for other positions, having done so for pass rusher Marcus Davenport.
If it’s not a quarterback, the Saints could be targeting one of this year’s top cornerback prospects, such as Alabama’s Patrick Surtain II or South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn.
