Report: Redskins release veteran TE Jordan Reed

The Redskins are letting Reed go as to save money on their salary cap. What Reed decides to do from here is unknown.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Washington Redskins have released veteran tight end Jordan Reed.

Reed is now free to sign with other teams ahead of the free agency period, which begins on March 18th, assuming he decides to keep playing football rather than retire, as was reported earlier this week.

This move does not come as a surprise at all, as the Redskins were likely to cut Reed this offseason regardless of what his future held. The veteran pass-catcher missed the entire 2019 season due to his seventh documented concussion, and he spent more than six months in the concussion protocol.

What happens next will be up to Reed, himself.
