Before James Harden started his crusade to get out of Houston to join the Nets, it appeared Brooklyn was looking to make a move for New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday.
Brooklyn reportedly spoke to the Pelicans about Holiday around the 2020 NBA trade deadline and again ahead of 2020-21 as the Nets look to improve their roster.
Also, Kevin Durant expressed this offseason that he believes Holiday has established himself as the best defensive guard in the NBA.
“When we talk about defense, a lot of people don’t really understand what defense really means. For different positions, especially at point guard, the stuff you have to do to guard, they don’t get a lot of credit for fighting over screens especially now they getting screened at half court, guys are running off of pindowns.”
Well, Durant will see a bit more of Holiday this season, but the guard won’t be in a Brooklyn uniform.
Holiday has been traded to another Eastern Conference contender.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Holiday has been traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, three first-round picks and two future pick swaps.
