Reports surfaced on Friday evening that Pitt wide receiver Jordan Addison is expected to enter the transfer portal by the May 1 deadline.
Addison was awarded the Biletnikoff Award after a stellar sophomore campaign in 2021, which recognizes college football’s best receiver in the country.
Brennan Marion was Pitt’s wide receivers coach at the time, who has since moved to Austin to join Steve Sarkisian’s coaching staff as the pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach.
Rumors surfaced shortly after Texas hired Marion that Addison could potentially follow him to the Forty Acres, but the playmaker ultimately chose to stay put.
On Friday, his decision may have suddenly changed thanks to NIL opportunities. Multiple multiple reports state that Lincoln Riley’s USC Trojans are in the drivers seat for Addison should he enter the transfer portal. If so, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where tampering wasn’t involved.

It’s unclear if his decision has already been made, or if he is open to speaking with other major programs such as Texas and Alabama. After all, Addison’s name hasn’t officially appeared in the transfer portal yet.
While NIL is great for college athletes, there’s likely to be some sort of protection or regulation implemented in the future. This is a perfect example of why it’s needed.
