Detroit Pistons rookie Killian Hayes has reportedly suffered a labral tear in his right hip, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. Hayes suffered the injury in the third quarter on Monday night against the Milwaukee Bucks and was later ruled out of returning to the game.
The timeline for Hayes to return to play is not yet known.
Hayes was initially listed on the injury report as doubtful to play on Wednesday versus the Bucks with a strained right hip. The 19-year-old was set to undergo an MRI on Tuesday to confirm the severity of the injury, which will now likely see Hayes miss a significant amount of time.

Hayes was viewed as a significant building block for the future of the Pistons. The team wanted to give him the opportunity to log heavy minutes this season in order to adjust to the NBA game and be able to play through his mistakes.
The injury to Hayes will be a significant blow to his development this season with the Pistons. Players often need surgery to repair labral tears and miss upward of 4-6 months, which could mean Hayes will miss the rest of the season.
The seventh overall pick is averaging 4.6 points and 3.6 assists this season.
