Report: Patriots LB Elandon Roberts signs with Dolphins

New England Patriots linebacker Elandon Roberts signed a deal with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday.

Free agency is in full swing, and a member of the New England Patriots is off to the Miami Dolphins. Linebacker Elandon Roberts signed with Miami on Wednesday afternoon, according to ESPN.

Roberts played four seasons in New England. He played in 60 games, starting 33 of them. His best year came in 2017. He recorded 67 tackles and two sacks in addition to a pass deflection and fumble recovery. With six quarterback hits on the year, that was also a career-high for him.

In total, Roberts recorded 206 combined tackles and 14 quarterback hits in four seasons with New England.

Perhaps one of his biggest achievements was a touchdown catch against the Miami Dolphins on December 29. The Dolphins defense did not pick up Roberts, who promptly scored on a wheel route to tie the contest at 17.

Miami is trying to establish a New England connection. They signed Kyle Van Noy to a four-year, $51 million contract on Monday. Now, Roberts will be reunited with Brian Flores in addition to Van Noy.

New England will definitely have many holes to fill this offseason. Now, linebacker will have to be a position to focus on during the draft. It will be interesting to see how New England plans to fill the holes at the position. Lack of depth at linebacker is now a cause for concern moving forward.
