The New England Patriots are in active negotiations with free agent safety Taylor Rapp, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Rapp was in town for a visit on Thursday, as New England continues to look for depth at the safety position. Fowler reported the Patriots were in “ongoing” talks with the safety on Friday.
Rapp tallied 92 tackles last season, a fumble recovery and two interceptions. Those numbers were his highest since 2019. New England is in the market for a safety, following the retirement of Devin McCourty. Rapp could be an answer to strengthening a position that is headlined at the moment by Kyle Dugger.
Talks are ongoing with #Patriots and safety Taylor Rapp, per source. Rapp is visiting the Patriots this week.

The Patriots have been more active in the last couple days of the free agency period. Bringing Rapp into the fold would add to the flurry and give the Patriots another solid defensive piece.
