Report: Patriots decide on starting QB for Week 8 vs Jets

Who’s starting at QB in Week 8? Mac Jones or Bailey Zappe?

The New England Patriots have reportedly settled on a starting quarterback heading into their Week 8 road game against the AFC East division rival New York Jets.

There was plenty of confusion following the Patriots’ embarrassing Monday Night Football loss to the Chicago Bears. Mac Jones got the start in the game, but he was ultimately pulled after throwing an interception. The team then went back to Bailey Zappe, who helped them overcome a 10-point deficit in the first half.

However, everything went to hell on the other side of the break and Zappe-mania turned into a catastrophe. The offense looked like it was stuck in mud, and the rookie quarterback threw two interceptions.

On Wednesday, ESPN’s Field Yates reported that Jones took 90 percent of the first-team reps in practice, and he’s expected to get the nod to start on Sunday against the Jets.

Will Jones remain the starter, or are we in for another week of weird musical chairs at the quarterback position? That’s the biggest question entering the game against a tough Jets team that shockingly finds themselves sitting at 5-2 on the season.

It didn’t work against the Bears. It won’t work in this game, either.
