In what has been a surprising day of cuts for the New England Patriots, they have overhauled their kicking game. Kickers Justin Rohrwasser and Nick Folk were both cut with the opener against the Dolphins a little more than a week away.
Rohrwasser played in 13 games in the 2018 and 2019 seasons with Marshall. His best season came in his senior year of 2019. He went 35-of-36 on extra points and 18-of-21 on field goals. In both seasons, he scored 89 points. New England drafted him in the fifth round of this past April’s draft.
For Folk, this was about to be his second go-around with New England. In the 2019 season, he went 14-of-17 on field goals in seven games with the Patriots. He went 12-of-12 on extra points.
The Patriots released Nick Folk, according to a source. So they're starting over at kicker.

This currently leaves the New England Patriots without a kicker. It will be interesting to see who they pick up and how soon they make the acquisition.
