Report: Patriots add veteran CB to defensive backfield

The Patriots added another veteran cornerback to the defensive backfield.

The New England Patriots added depth to the cornerback room on Thursday, signing Breon Borders, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Borders played at Duke and has been well-traveled in his NFL career. New England marks his 11th stop in the league. Borders has appeared in 32 games over his career and has made six starts.

This could be a notable depth signing, given that the Patriots’ cornerback room has battled injuries as of late. There is some good news on that front, as Jonathan Jones was back at practice on Wednesday. However, the team’s depth at the position will still be tested when they face a New York Jets team with wide receiver Garrett Wilson leading the charge on Sunday.

New England will look to claim their first victory of the season, as the Jets look to secure a win over the Patriots for the first time in 14 games. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET.
