The Carolina Panthers are clearly in the market for an upgrade at the quarterback position.
In addition to being “aggressive” trying to acquire Deshaun Watson, the team is involved in the Matthew Stafford trade talks, according to a report by Joe Person at the Athletic.
Panthers involved in the Matthew Stafford trade talks, per league source. As Scott Fitterer said, they will be “in on every deal.”

Watson (25) is obviously the grand prize in what’s shaping up to be a very busy QB-movement offseason. However, Houston’s front office has repeatedly said that the organization has no intention of trading him. That might eventually change, but it’s smart to consider other options, as well.
Stafford turns 33 in about a week and also has a lot of teams interested. The Colts, 49ers and Rams have all been connected to the Stafford talks.
While his Lions teams haven’t had a ton of success (he’s only played three playoff games in his career), it would be foolish to blame Stafford for that. He has as much arm talent as any starter in the NFL outside of Kansas City and would make an excellent consolation prize if the Panthers can’t land Watson.
