Report: Nets’ Kyrie Irving trade talk with Lakers not progressing

A potential Russell Westbrook for Kyrie Irving swap isn’t closer to completion, per ESPN.

The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be one of the very few logical landing spots for Kyrie Irving in a trade, but according to a new report from ESPN, trade talks have not been progressing between the two sides.

Irving is in Los Angeles and it was reported that he could appear in the Drew League. Irving’s old running mate LeBron James made an appearance on court on Saturday.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reports that the Nets and Lakers have talked recently about a blockbuster deal that would see former league MVP Russell Westbrook land in Brooklyn, but a deal is not close.

Via ESPN:

“Los Angeles has engaged Brooklyn in trade talks in recent weeks to attempt to acquire Irving in a deal that would send Russell Westbrook to the Nets, sources told ESPN. Thus far, those talks have not progressed toward an agreement.”
