Report: Mike D’Antoni is interested in coaching the Blazers

Mike D’Antoni is reportedly interested in coaching Damian Lillard in Portland.

Sam Amick of the Athletic is reporting that Nets assistant coach Mike D’Antoni has “serious interest” in the head coaching job in Portland that is currently open.

D’Antoni led the Houston Rockets to the second round of the playoffs last season, and then reunited with former player Steve Nash in Brooklyn.

Shades of D’Antoni’s defensive and offensive schemes from the Rockets are being utilized right now with the Brooklyn Nets. The 70-year-old mastermind is known for offensive prowess though more than anything. With a player like Damian Lillard as his disposal on the Trail Blazers, the two can create something special for sure.
