In a move that seemed to move quickly, after hearing that the LSU Tigers were targeting Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly it seems like Scott Woodward has found his man. According to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, an announcement could come as early as Tuesday to name Brian Kelly as the next head coach of the Bayou Bengals.

After the USC Trojans named Lincoln Riley as their head coach, it felt like the candidate pool was shrinking. Now Kelly will take over a program looking to get back into title contention. Just a week ago Kelly stated that the check would need to be huge to get him out of South Bend, remains to be seen if that was indeed the case for Brian Kelly.
The key for Kelly will be surrounding himself with solid coordinators with strong recruiting talents. Marcus Freeman will be one that should be a priority. Ed Orgeron tried to bring him to LSU before he chose to join Kelly at Notre Dame.
