LSU is reportedly targeting South Carolina defensive line coach [autotag]Jimmy Lindsey[/autotag] to fill the vacant position on staff left by [autotag]Jamar Cain[/autotag], who left for a role with the Denver Broncos, according to Football Scoop. Per the report, a deal could be finalized as soon as this weekend.

Defensive analyst [autotag]Gerald Chatman[/autotag], who returned to Baton Rouge this offseason, filled in coaching the defensive line group during spring practice.

Lindsey spent the last two seasons in Columbia as the Gamecocks’ defensive line coach. Before that, he was the defensive ends coach at Illinois in 2020 and later served as the interim defensive coordinator for the season finale after then-coach Lovie Smith was fired.

Prior to his stint with the Illini, Lindsey made stops as an assistant at Western Kentucky, Georgia Southern, Furman, UT-Martin, Miami (Ohio) and Gardner-Webb, as well as multiple stints at his alma mater, Chattanooga.
