Report: Lions QB Matthew Stafford will start vs. Vikings, barring any setbacks

Lions QB Matthew Stafford will reportedly start in the Sunday finale, barring any setbacks overnight.

The Vikings play the Lions in Week 17 without much on the line. Despite the low stakes, Detroit’s starting quarterback is expected to play in the game, according to a report.

Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Matthew Stafford will start in the Sunday finale, barring any setbacks overnight. Stafford was listed as questionable on the Lions’ injury report with rib, right thumb and ankle injuries.

“Stafford is determined to gut this out,”Pelissero said on Twitter.

If Stafford isn’t able to go, expect quarterback Chase Daniel to fill in. Even if Stafford is available to start, the Lions will be dealing with some key absences, the most notable of which is wide receiver Kenny Golladay.

Also, Minnesota native and Lions center Frank Ragnow is listed as questionable with a throat injury. He was tabbed as limited in practice this week.

Without a whole lot to play for, it remains to be seen what both teams end up doing in this game. But if the Lions want to end a disappointing season on a high note, Stafford playing certainly helps them.
