We’re now less than two weeks away from the start of the 2020 NFL Draft and business is about to pick up. The top two picks of the 2020 Draft are generally considered to be set in stone — with Joe Burrow and Chase Young appearing as the consensus contenders to move off the board first. The draft, for all intents and purposes, starts at 3 with the Detroit Lions. And if Detroit reportedly has it their way, the draft will be starting with someone else picking third instead.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported yesterday that the Lions have had discussions with teams about moving back out of the 3rd pick — and that teams wanting to move up have been receptive to the idea.

The Miami Dolphins, in their bid for a quarterback, are almost assuredly going to be a part of the race. But the important bit of content to hold onto for Dolphins fans is that there is no team in the NFL that will be able to out-bid the Dolphins. If Miami sees another team leapfrog them into the 3rd pick in the order, it is because the Dolphins don’t see it necessary to block the move.
But if the Dolphins have clear conviction on who their QB2 is and want to guarantee they’re going to walk away with his services, the Dolphins will be well within their rights to move up — and they’ll still likely have more ammunition than anyone in the 2020 NFL Draft after a potential trade-up, too. But whether or not the Dolphins feel compelled to make a move or not is up in the air. If the reports are to be believed, Miami has three highly graded quarterbacks in this year’s NFL Draft — Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert. If we see the Dolphins stay put at 5, we’ll have our answer — Miami is comfortable with the end result of any of the three and would be willing to call the Lions’ bluff to see if they can get their choice between two of them.
