Report: Lakers are the top destination if Kyrie Irving leaves Nets

Reports indicate that if Brooklyn Nets disgruntled star Kevin Durant is moved then Kyrie Irving’s top destination is the Los Angeles Lakers.

While disgruntled superstar Kevin Durant is awaiting a trade, guard Kyrie Irving is planning on staying with Brooklyn but according to a report, Los Angeles is his top destination if traded.

According to basketball writer Jovan Buha of The Athletic:

There are few givens in the NBA, so I would hesitate to label it as such. But all indications are that the Lakers are Irving’s top destination if he leaves Brooklyn, whether it’s via a trade between now and the February 2023 trade deadline, or in free agency next summer, when Westbrook’s salary will be off the Lakers’ books.

While Irving reportedly wants to stay with the team, analysts believe it’s likely that he get moved if Durant doesn’t stay on the roster.

The Lakers were instantly interested in Irving upon his trade request, for weeks the Lakers had to look to other teams in an attempt to attain the seven-time All-Star via mulit-team trade but no deals came to fruition.
