Report: Klay Thompson may have suffered ‘significant’ Achilles injury

The initial prognosis on Klay Thompson’s leg injury couldn’t be any worse.

On the day that the Golden State Warriors exercised the second overall pick in the 2020 draft and selected James Wiseman, the team was on the receiving end of some absolutely devastating news.

During a private workout on Thursday, Klay Thompson was reported to have suffered an injury to his right leg. The news was initially reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, while ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski added a few details.

At this point, what is known is that Thompson suffered what seems to be a significant injury to his right leg and that some additional information on its severity would be available at some point on Thursday.

Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes shed some additional light on Thompson’s injury during the 2020 NBA Draft, reporting that there is fear that Thompson suffered a “significant” Achilles injury, which is obviously the worst possible scenario.

At this point, all that the NBA community can do is send its well wishes.

Many within the fraternity have sent out tweets in support of Thompson, indicating that word has traveled about his unfortunate situation and that the initial prognosis isn’t good.

More information will likely be made available in the coming day.
