Report: Jets safety Jamal Adams interested in Texans and 6 other teams

The Houston Texans may be in the Jamal Adams sweepstakes, and it is because the New York Jets safety reportedly would like to be in the AFC South.

New York Jets safety Jamal Adams has requested a trade, and the All-Pro has an idea of where he would like to go.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, one of the landing spots Adams welcomes is the Houston Texans. The other teams Adams would prefer to be traded to include the Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks.

The former 2017 first-rounder from LSU is entering the fourth year of his contract. Though the Cowboys are reportedly a target for Adams as well, the Texans can offer some of the same opportunities Dallas could.

Adams is from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and graduated from Carrollton Hebron High School. Houston is only a three and a half hour drive from Carrollton, which is nothing for his family to traverse on game days. The distance is also trivial compared to the offseason residences some players keep on the West Coast or in Florida.

Pairing Adams with third-year safety Justin Reid would give Houston a formidable back end that featured intelligence and playmaking. The Texans signed former Cleveland Browns safety Eric Murray in free agency. If the Texans go with Adams, it would relegate their free agent acquisition to the bench in favor of the two-time Pro Bowler.
