Report: Jayson Oweh ‘has a lot of fans’ inside Giants

Penn State edge rusher Jayson Oweh reportedly “has a lot of fans” inside the New York Giants’ building in East Rutherford.

The New York Giants are not likely to select an edge rusher with the 11th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft but when they’re on the clock in Round 2 with the 42nd pick, you might see them dive in.

One player they could be eying is Penn State’s Jayson Oweh.

I don’t know about the Giants trading up. They don’t have a lot of draft capital to play with this year and they likely won’t dip into their 2022 stock, but if they feel that strongly about Oweh, then I guess it’s possible.

Oweh is a local product; he was born in Hackensack and went to high school at the Blair Academy in Blairstown. The 6-foot-5, 257-pounder was a first team All Big-Ten selection last year as a red shirt sophomore.

Oweh’s pro day was a revelation. He ran the 40 in 4.36 seconds and followed that up with a 39.5-inch vertical jump and a broad jump of 11 feet, 2 inches.

The Giants have connections to Penn State, one prominent one is defensive line coach Sean Spencer who was on the Nittany Lions’ staff when Oweh was recruited.
