Whatever case star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown was making toward earning an All-NBA bid might have to rest with news the Georgia native cut his hand open badly enough to need medical intervention, according to new reporting from The Athletic NBA insider Jared Weiss.
Per Weiss, “Brown cut his right hand picking up a glass vase he knocked over while watering his plants (Thursday) night and got 5 stitches.” Weiss also reported that “he’s expected to be ready for the playoffs, but he’s pissed.”
NBC Sports Boston’s Abby Chin echoed that sentiment on the broadcast for the Celtics tilt with the Toronto Raptors on Friday night, adding the former Cal player is not expected to take the court again for the rest of the 2022-23 regular season.
With only the contest remaining against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday afternoon remaining, there wasn’t too much left for Brown to use to burnish his All-NBA case.

And with that case having already picked up a fair amount of steam in the media, a little additional rest ahead of the postseason could well turn out to be a (slightly painful) blessing in disguise.
